Facilities Specialist
The University of Evansville invites applications for a full-time Facilities Specialist to join our Facilities Management and Planning team. This role is essential to ensuring the seamless operation of campus events and maintaining the quality of university facilities. The Facilities Specialist will handle furniture and equipment logistics, perform painting and surface repairs, and assist with general carpentry tasks while adhering to safety standards and providing exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
Furniture and Equipment Logistics:
- Deliver, assemble, and disassemble furniture, fixtures, and equipment for events.
- Set up and inspect tables, chairs, and other items, performing repairs as needed.
- Operate delivery vehicles, hand trucks, forklifts, and pallet jacks for loading and unloading items.
Maintenance and Repairs:
- Maintain and repair furniture, equipment, and stage items, ensuring their security and functionality.
- Perform surface preparation and painting for buildings, structures, and furniture.
General Carpentry and Support:
- Complete tasks such as hanging pictures, whiteboards, and signage.
- Assist maintenance technicians and trades as needed, including work from aerial lifts and elevated platforms up to 65 feet.
Safety and Customer Service:
- Promote and enforce safety practices to maintain a hazard-free work environment.
- Provide courteous, professional service to faculty, staff, and campus visitors.
Additional Duties:
- Support maintenance technicians, assist trades as required, and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant training or experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and promote teamwork in a service-oriented environment.
- Ability to safely lift, move, and install heavy objects in various conditions, including awkward or high locations.
- Comfortable working in diverse environments, including outdoor settings and areas with temperature extremes.
Licensure:
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record to operate university vehicles and equipment.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Frequent lifting, bending, twisting, walking, and standing.
- Regular use of hands, wrists, and fingers for repetitive motions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Exposure to hazardous materials such as asbestos and solvents.
- Comfortable working at heights of up to 65 feet using lifts or elevated platforms.
